Squale 101 atmos 2002 Dive Watch Black Blasted

Description

The Squale 2002 / 101 atmos is a visually stunning recreation of an iconic late 60’s Squale dive watch. The look and original 1000m water resistance have been maintained as well as the famous snap-on Bakelite push-down rotary bezel.

It has a thick 3.5mm sapphire crystal with a double gasket to ensure outstanding water resistance, whilst the lugless tonneau style case, made of Swedish 316L stainless steel, gives an overall smooth flowing look.

Measuring 44mm in diameter, the case now has an integrated automatic helium escapement valve (HEV) at 9 o'clock for saturation divers. The caseback is also engraved with an interpretation of the classic Squale wave design together with the famous Squale curved shark logo. The etched back and the special diving winder - all painstakingly designed details, crafted to make a product that keeps faith with the Squale brand philosophy.

The watch's discreet elegance is combined with reliability provided by the well tried and tested ETA 2824-2 (Elabore grade) Swiss movement operating at 28,800 BPH (4 Hertz) with hacking and hand winding capabilities. Squale have been working directly with ETA for over fifty years.

Like the model that inspired it, the special press-and-release bezel, a Squale innovation that ensures that the bezel won't be accidentally rotated, is secured by a twelve-sided ring screwed onto the top of the case for easy removal from above. The gorgeous bakelite bevel is coloured in a multi-stage process. First the phosphorescent material is applied by hand, followed by colouring with varnishes immune to seawater corrosion, and then application to the supporting steel substrate. This guarantees that the component is warm to the touch while guaranteeing excellent bevel legibility thanks to the transparency. The watch face features hand applied stainless steel indexes, similar to those found on vintage Squale dive watches, which are filled with SuperLuminova luminous, just like the hands.

The Squale 2002 comes with a superb Italian made ‘Tropic’ rubber strap for that added breathability. Steel bracelets are also available.
